Chapter – 3 : Input & Output Devices, It’s Types

An input device is any hardware component that allows a user to enter data and control signals into a computer. An output device, on the other hand, is used to convey information from the computer to the user or another device.

🔹 Input Devices

These let you send data to the computer:

  • Keyboard – For typing text.
  • Mouse – For pointing and clicking.
  • Scanner – Converts physical documents to digital.
  • Microphone – Captures audio.
  • Webcam – Captures images and video.

🔹 Output Devices

These let the computer send data to you:

  • Monitor/Screen – Displays visual output.
  • Printer – Produces physical copies of digital documents.
  • Speakers – Output sound.
  • Projector – Projects the display onto a surface.

🔁 Bonus: Input/Output Devices (I/O Devices)

Some devices can do both:

  • Touchscreen – Accepts touch input and displays output.
  • External drives – Can read (input) and write (output) data.
